The time I felt most alive in my life was when I got pancreatic cancer and was about to die! The cancer struck at the worst possible time. I had just quit my job after 25-years, given up the salary and security of employment and started my own business. Suddenly and unexpectedly, I was experiencing a life-threatening crisis and unable to work. I was in shock!
But somehow, being confronted by this huge challenge felt familiar. I realised that I had faced so many other challenges in my life and prevailed each and every time. I decided there and then that this was going to be no different. I decided that I was going to beat this, or at least die trying!
The decision energised me. It made me realise how much I still wanted to do with my life, the difference that I wanted to make in the lives of others and the legacy that I wanted to leave.
The ChangeMakers Story
This is why I started ChangeMakers Academy. I have always been in education, making a difference in people’s lives through learning, but I realise that learning is not enough.
